The 2013 Hosta College Gift Plant is:

The 2013 Hosta College gift plant is an open pollinated seedling

with obvious sieboldiana parentage.

It was selected from seeds planted in 2000 because of its very exceptional blue color.

By 2006 it had developed into an outstanding plant, 30” x 76”

with rippled, corrugated leaves 16” x 12” with 18 – 20 vein pairs.

Linda Blue Taubert was a valued friend

and active member of the Miami Valley Hosta Society.

She dearly loved hostas and gardening.

She was a member of the American Hosta Society

and a member of the hybridizers club

because of her interest in the scientific side of hosta.

Linda had attended Hosta College just before she died of lung cancer in 2006.

"Linda's smiling helpful presence is missed by all who knew her."

Hosta ‘Linda Blue’ was registered and named in her honor in 2007

and donated to be tissue cultured for Hosta College.

Our ever popular Hosta Auction will take place at 7:30 p.m. on March 15th in the Auditorium.

A list of the plants being auctioned will be available after March 1, 2013 by clicking the 'HOSTA COLLEGE' button to the right and then clicking the 'ANNOUNCEMENTS' button on the Hosta College Page.

The registration and payment process for Hosta College 2013 will be the same as past years.  When registration dates open you will login, register for your classes and then print two copies of your invoice page.  Mail in one copy with your payment and keep the other copy for your records.  Remember to check back just before Hosta College and reprint your invoice page.  Your invoice page also acts as your schedule.  Your initial invoice will not have class locations noted as we schedule rooms based on the number of individuals signed up for a particular class.

Registration fees are $42 for members, $55 for non-members.

Registration payments should be mailed to:
Great Lakes Region Hosta Society
P. O. Box 43205
Cincinnati, Ohio 45243

As always, if you have any trouble registering with the site or registering for Hosta College, do not hesitate to request assistance by clicking the Webmaster link found at the bottom of most pages.  You will be taken to a form where you can submit your help request.  Once you submit the help request an email will immediately be sent to the support team.

After attending Hosta College, please let us know what you like or dislike – we are always looking for ways to improve Hosta College.  As the current president, I am very pleased with Hosta College’s many accomplishments and continued growth over the past several years.  Spread the word so Hosta College will continue to grow and will remain the hosta gardener’s social event of the winter.  Invite a friend.

-Bob Sinke, GLRHS President
